Columbia Private Institute acknowledges the worldwide dominance of the English language and believes that the future student is one who has mastered it. The institute’s main goal is for students to become independent English readers and writers as well as confident speakers, who can interact casually with native English speakers or deliver formal presentations in their further academic pursuits. Since its inception, CPI has expanded its successful educational formula and over the decades we have always been devoted to ensuring our students’ success, which has been highly rewarding.
Columbia Private Institute is licensed by the Cyprus Ministry of Education, is a member of the IATEFL and ClubEFL and is also accredited by the European Council for Business Education (ECBE). We closely collaborate with the British Council Cyprus concerning English Exams and CPI’s premises are regularly used as British Council exam venues.
The institute’s syllabus, which follows the Common European Framework (CEFR) for all the English programs, is organized by our academic team, comprised of university professors in addition to the director and experienced native English speaking teachers, so as to ensure standardized curriculum for all levels and classes.
Columbia Private Institute was established in 1985 and has recently moved to its newly purpose-built premises. Its facilities include spacious classrooms, equipped with computers and projectors, a lending library with books and other interactive material appropriate for each level, plus a conference room where it regularly hosts lectures by eminent doctors, nutritionists, psychologists and educators. Each classroom has a capacity of twenty students, but the number of students in each class is limited to fifteen, which allows ample space for kinesthetic activities. CPI’s facilities are also fully air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and provides ample parking. The IGCSE and IELTS among other exams are conducted on the school’s premises. CPI’s overseas division, hosting international students from all over the world on its adult, family and summer camp residential programme is known as Columbia International and is a member of the English Language Schools Association of Cyprus (ELSAC).
