Junior Programme

The Junior Programme offers twenty 45-minute sessions of General English per week, Monday through Friday. The summer programme runs from the third week of June through the second week of August, and, although, it is recommended that students enrol every Monday, we operate a rolling admissions process where students can comfortably enter classes on any day of the week.

In General English students are placed in the appropriate level of competence (Beginners to Advanced levels) after taking an assessment test. They practise all four skills through carefully structured lessons with interactive and intriguing activities that facilitate learning. Particular emphasis is placed on communication and fluency. Morning and afternoon classes are offered all year round. Morning sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 12:15 p.m. and afternoon sessions begin at 2:00 p.m. and finish 5:15 p.m.

The overall school methodology is based on the Communicative Approach, the Learning Styles and Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences theories. The lesson plans are teeming with invigorating activities that engage students’ participation and enforce a student-centred environment. Lesson plans are also based on the Phonetic alphabet that is visually and kinesthetically enforced. All students have access to the online platform, ClubEFL, which is available both in class and remotely. The platform consists of enticing activities that successfully complement classroom practices, while self-studying and self-testing quizzes boost students’ confidence and allow them to progress at their own pace.

In the Junior Programme, students are always busy and more importantly are always having fun because of the packed programme. Summertime spent in Cyprus at the Columbia Language English School is an experience not to be missed!
